The time of the day, usually straight after the ceremony, where I whisk you both away for a period of time that feels right for you, I would recommend no less than 30 minutes, however. During our initial consultation you can tell me all about how comfortable you are, or not, in front of a camera, and we will devise a timescale that suits you. I'm a big believer in ‘this is your day’, and so I would never be a pushy photographer in order for ME to get the desired shot for my portfolio. I listen to you and gauge your comfortability, and don’t get me wrong, I will guarantee absolutely wonderful images but my main aim is that the images are reflective of you both, authentic, and I also want you to have fun while we get them! I will not do anything overly posed, however I will give loose direction throughout, for example - hold that for a little longer (i.e. a kiss), or just move to the left a touch etc etc.
I offer prompts, rather than poses. I won’t tell you what all of them are, as I find that when I get my couples to do these prompts on the day, I get the most natural, energetic and romantic responses, and it enables the images to be full of life, personality and celebration. I may ask you to hug each other like you won’t see each other for 6 months (doesn’t sound like much of a laugh, ill admit..but go with it), or I may ask you to piggyback and run towards me - I have a hugely extensive list of prompts, and once we get to know each other upon the run up to your big day, I will definitely know which ones to deploy! You just have to trust the process.
Ahead of your big day we will have a rough idea on where we will be going for the portrait shoot, whether were staying on site at your venue, or if we decide to head somewhere else (e.g. a near by beach, or something like that). The only limit for these shoots are our imagination! Where possible I will also endeavour to always do a little reccy so I can find the absolute coolest places for your photos. Also, if you would like any champagne shots, confetti shots, or smoke bomb shots (which come with a disclaimer), please discuss these with me upon our consultations.
This part of the day should be where you two can take a breath, enjoy a little peace and quiet and revel in the fact that you have just got married (whilst an onlooker takes your pic, but you can forget i’m there!).
