The Surprise Wedding

SECRET WEDDING | SHOCK |CURTIS

At first glance you might look at the images of Paige and Marcs wedding at Abbey House, Barrow, and think it was a classic, traditional affair - but that’s not quite the case!

Paige contacted me at the beginning of Summer 22 and said she was interested in Wolf & Raven photographing their special day, but there was a bit of a catch … it was a secret…

…Right!

Paige said she and Marc had a date booked around Christmas time in 2024, but that she didn’t really see the need to wait around for almost 2 years and that she just wanted to be married to the father of her children and finally share their last name! They also concluded that all they really wanted was a fairly small wedding party and they just wanted to celebrate their marriage with all of their friends in a true party style. SO, they scrapped their 2024 wedding, and made some huge changes that felt much more true to them and their love.

So how did they manage to get away with keeping it a secret you may ask?

They invited their immediate families and a handful of close friends to Abbey House for the wedding ceremony and tasked them all with the huge responsibility to not, tell, anyone! They were swore to secrecy - and yes, this even included having to sneak off on a secret hen and stag do! #nopapsplease.

The rest of their guests were lured to Abbey House under the guise of an Engagement Do!

Naturally, as their evening guests began to arrive, there were a lot of surprised faces to see Paige stood at the enterence in her (incredible) princess dress! There were “mouth wide open gaspers”, “stone faced and shocked none blinkers”, “the criers”, “the swearers”, and “the guy who punched Marc in the arm” lol. Ultimately, once the shock had wore off, all of the guests were absolutely over the moon to walk in and see the happy couple, the Curtis’, and be able to share in their momentous day by way of huge celebrations leading long into the night.

Wolf and Raven Enquiries

My aim throughout your day is to capture you both in the most authentic way possible. A documentary styled approach which results in images that truly translates to how you are as a couple.

I want to capture the natural interactions between you both and your families – whether he is moving a piece of hair from your face, or whether you’re raising a glass with your parents – I want to capture laughter in a way that you can hear the image whenever you see it. I want to capture you and your family in your wedding day bubble that is unique to yourselves and every time you look at your images you’re transported back into that bubble.

I want images that will be timeless in your eyes and that when you show them to future generations you can say “that was us”, and they will see that, even if you don’t look anything like the images anymore…

…they will know it was you.
